From the Ashes: My Story of Being Métis, Homeless, and Finding My Way

Author - Jesse Thistle

This book was on my reading list for a long time & finally when I am done with it, I can confidently say that I want to read it again and again, This is one of those books that leave an everlasting impression on you. I highly recommend reading this book.

Jesse Thistle literally blew my mind with this personal story which talks about the truth about Turtle Island & the ugly history behind it. I have always been fascinated with soloing and was especially impressed by the way he has described the life of the homeless. Every time I see a homeless in Toronto I am reminded of this book.

Reading his early life struggles and how he ultimately found success is quite motivating to say the least. If you are facing hurdles in life or going through traumatic experience do read this book as the authors journey is remarkable and uplifting.

Jesse's story gives us amazing insights into the Metis culture and their trials & tribulation over many centuries.
