The Essence of Ganga - The Story of Mandakini

“A kaleidoscope of a deeply inspiring life - lived in the true spirit of service to mankind. Like the Ganga, this splendid book narrates the ever flowing and enchanting experiences of Mandakini’s journey. An ideal read for anyone looking to discover life’s purpose.” - Maj Gen(Dr) Jagtar Singh,VSM, former Addl Director General Armed Forces Medical Services

Mandakini is a familiar figure and an angel for her selfless service to the poor and needy in Rishikesh, Uttrakhand. She has endeared herself to the people through the yeoman service she renders there. After an illustrious career spanning about 30 years in various capacities in the healthcare industry in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangaluru, she finally ended her career at CII. Her natural connection with the needy and deprived earned her a place in the hearts of the poor of Rishikesh. After completing B Sc Hons. from Mumbai University, Mandakini stepped into a career in the healthcare industry and married Dilip Pawar. Despite the demands of her career, she maintained an enduring balance between her job her paternal and maternal home. Her capabilities and management skills earned her laurels at her workplace. I remember her as a young enthusiastic, and energetic girl eager to learn when I first visited her paternal home in Godrej colony, Vikhroli. I was then a police officer attached to Vikhroli Police Station. Today, she lives with her daughter, having lost her husband Dilip ten years ago. Indeed an inspiring story for today’s youth, our Mandakini! My best wishes to her, and God bless!” - Balasaheb D Pachundkar Asstt Commissioner of Police (Rtd) Mumbai

“Mandakani is one of the most sensitive and spiritual souls I have had the privilege to encounter. It would not be an exaggeration to say that she was born to write this book, for the essence of this book was carried forward in the journey of her soul. Her name itself is a synonym of Mother Ganga and it comes as no surprise that she was meant to be the over achiever that she is. Listing her achievements would call for yet another book, hence it is sufficient to say that her life journey is akin to the ebb and flow of Ganga itself, an inspirational story, painted in impossibly brilliant colours. It is the story of a woman who personifies, strength, leadership and spiritual compassion that is a class apart. This is a must read not just for women, but every Indian who aspires to have an inspirational life.” - Shahjahan M.Riaz Director. Film & TV. / Executive Producer
